Over the last 10 years, Ken Hill
had been searching for the right blend of his favorite genres of electronic, new age and rock music. He began to learn guitar and
composition on his computer in 1994, at the age of 16. Electronically inspired by the instrumentals of Nine Inch Nails and Final Fantasy
composer, Nobuo Uetmatsu, he merged the heavy electronic and softer orchestral melodies with rock inspired guitar riffs. After studying
classical music at a university for 3 years, he traded the electric guitar for the classical and acoustic.
In 2002, Ken started Torchlight Creek, a project where he composed new age melodies and classical guitar lines with an accompanying
flutist. The debut album won online prestigious awards such as Song of the Month and Hall of Fame (9.8 out of 10) for Gods of Music, a
music critiquing site.
After various rock bands and side projects, Ken still wanted to find a way to fuse together the downtempo electronic and melancholic
softer style of his music. It was then that he created Soulwire, using the different elements of his music to express the twists and
turns of life. He integrated this with his philosophical thoughts and questions as a lyric for the mind to muse upon, as the music weaves
the tale and guides the listener through.
