Tasty Bits on the new Blue Stone album

Due out this year is the third offering from electronic/pop group Blue Stone. The album is called "Messages". Returning on vocals are Sheyenne Rivers and Samantha Sandlin, with new appearances by Sara Bloomfield, Sarah Day and Veronica Gunter.

And finally, listen for a guest appearance by Bridin Brennan, youngest of the family that brought us Moya Brennan, Enya and Clannad - her intricate vocals combine with the Blue Stone "sound" to create something quite unique on the upcoming album.

No release date has been announced yet, but we'll keep watching for ya.

The Carothers Machine

I've been in close contact with Kori Carothers during the process of recording and mixing and mastering her new album Trillium. All I can say is that this woman is a superhero. It amazes me how she fulfills her calling as a mother and wife while simultaneously creating the incredible music that you'll hear on her upcoming CD, collaborating with other musicians and vocalists, flying back and forth to Will Ackerman's Imaginary Road studios for recording/mastering... whew. I need more coffee just typing this.

Props to Kori, who's prepping for one final East Coast trip this month to wrap up things on "Trillium". If you haven't sampled some of the new tracks, be sure to tune in to Radio Mystic, or check 'em out on Kori's website. This album can't arrive fast enough!

A few recently-released tracks to watch for:

SOULWIRE's "Dream Spirals". Composer Ken Hill weaves a tapestry of emotion and passion in all of his work, and this latest track is no exception - tasty ambient goodness!

LORI CUNNINGHAM and TIGERFOREST collaborate on "The Way", an ethereal, uptempo gem featuring skilled composing and Lori's ever-amazing vocal work.

SLEEPTHIEF brings us a sneak of "World Gone Crazy" featuring Coury Palermo on vocals, from the upcoming CD "Labyrinthine Heart". Check the previous post for more details on this one.

That should keep you flying around Myspace for at least a few days.

SLEEPTHIEF revealed the cover of the new single "World Gone Crazy", the first single from the upcoming album LABYRINTHINE HEART. The single will be available in June, and the album is slated for a late summer 2009 release. DJ CYBO announced the release of her latest project, "Last Glow Before Darkness". The album is set to take a slightly different path from her previous works. Cybo says the album will feature "ghostly type sounds with hard filled gritty beats, Drum and Bass, Industrial and rhythmic percussion, overdriven guitar sounds and layered vocals, maintaining a balanced flow of electronic progression." Samantha Gillogly in the Youtube Symphony

Violinist/composer Samantha Gillogly announced in an email today that she's won a spot in the Youtube Symphony Orchestra. She'll be traveling to Carnegie Hall in April to perform with a host of other musicians in this innovative endeavor.

"THE MOST INNOVATIVE ALBUM OF THE YEAR HAS ARRIVED"

The intro says it all...and I have to agree. This purely instrumental album is incredible. A very thrilling, intricate web of sound. Anyone and Everyone can get something out of this album. It doesn't matter if your a rocker or a new ager, if your a child or a seasoned adult.

The creater, Enier Gonzalez, adds a disclaimer on his myspace page "Be careful...you can get lost in the music". That is so true...before you know it you can lose all track of time in the hypnotic sounds.

Radio Mystic announces the Best of 2008 podcast

Ambient/downtempo station Radio Mystic announced today that their annual "Best Of" podcast, featuring the top tracks of 2008, *update* is now online. It will be the 40th episode of their popular E*SCAPES podcast, which as of today has garnered over 22,000 subscribers.

The special all-music episode will run two hours of listening time and feature 26 tracks from Radio Mystic's arsenal of independent/signed artists, spanning the genres of new age, ambient, world, electronica and acoustic music.

Prelude to Peace review

This weekend I had the rare opportunity to see one of my favorite artists, Louis Landon, perform live. I live in the Washington D.C. area and have always thought my chances of seeing great quality artist performing were slim. Thank God I was mistaken.

Louis Landon was joined by Dana Cunningham and Stanton Lanier in Preludes to Peace. Concerts for peace!

I've known Louis Landon through many mediums but first through Radio Mystic. And I have always loved the music of his solo Piano albums. To see him and meet him was a real honor for me. Louis is a genuine-fun person. Just through my short time at the concert, Prelude to Peace, not only did you know his true feelings for peace but it would wash over you (me) through the beautiful sounds created by his finger tips. I felt like we'd been friends forever. A real feeling of ease and calm.

I must say, Dana Cunningham and Stanton Lanier were no different.

I was not as familiar with Dana or Stanton as I was with Louis. But Louis introduced me to them prior to the concert, from that I could see that they also were true.

I was greatly impressed with Dana. She spoke poems from memory prior to playing almost each Peace. And each poem a blessing. Watching her play gave me, literal, goose bumps. You can see, not only hear but see -the emotion she emits when she plays. It was a joy to watch and listen to her beautiful sounds.

Stanton Lanier is a person that can put you at ease in any situation. He shared a few stories for the backdrops of the music he played, all you could relate to. It made to be a very personal relationship with what he played. I have to say, I am his newest fan.

What I personally take from them is peace to my inner struggle. We all have such a struggle within but most will keep it hidden. Through their music, I truly felt peaceful. It was so very relaxing. I left their feeling that my very soul had been rejuvenated! I know that I can feel this way every time I play one of their CD's or downloads. And so can you.

A recent blog post by Jillian Goldin revealed that she's got a holiday surprise planned for her fans and listeners: a Christmas EP will be released this November. According to Jill, "The mini-album will feature a collection of carols and winter songs that take the listener on a night-time journey through the magic of Christmas." I don't know about any of you, but I'm thrilled Autumn is finally here! Cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and beautiful landscapes! Oh, and of course Radio Mystic's annual Autumn Tide program!

AutumnTide is just a journey of music to chill too. To just sit back and relax. To throw all cares aside, just for a little while. Admit it, we all need some time to just unwind.

Much of the music I selected this year is from late 80's to early 90's. With just a hint of recent flavor.

If all goes well, AutumnTide should debut this year on October 15th....from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

That's right friends...Enya is coming out with a new full length album....a lot sooner than you might think!

According to her website the new album is titled "And Winter Came". The first single, 'trains and winter rains', along with the album, are due for a November release.

I think it is safe to say every new age/Celtic fan on the face of the planet has heard of Enya. Previous Enya albums have been known to stay on the billboard adult contemporary charts for up to FOUR years! Greatly accomplished and very well known. In fact, many fans state "if not for enya" they'd not be fans of this genre of music.

The new album was to be a holiday album only but quickly became a winters seasonal album where 'Christmas' just happens to fall in the season of winter.
